Host Tiburon Tavern stayed even with powerful Break Time 1 early in their match, but Break Time pulled away easily and posted a 12-3 win.
Marc Alexander, Ray Arias, and Andre Aparicio all had three wins for 2nd place Break Time 1 (2-0). Tiburon captain Kevin Rehak ran his impressive record to 5-1 with two wins.
Last place Tiburon fell to 0-2.
Behind Krista Topete's three wins, host Creekside 1 was able to pull away late and defeat Cliff Room 3 by a score of 9-6. The match was very even through the first two frames, and
at the beer frame the score was 5-5. Krista opened the final frame with her third win. Teammate Mike Linetsky followed with his third win to keep his perfect 6-0 record intact.
Mark Weingartner then put Creekside over the top as he handed Cliff Room's Greg Contreras his only loss on the night. With the win, Creekside 1 (1-1) moved up four spots to 7th place.
Cliff Room 3 (0-2) fell into a 9th place tie with Cliff Room 1.
Don Q's 1 (2-0) moved into 1st place in A Division with a 13-2 thrashing of host Monty's 1. Robert Rosa had three wins to keep him tied for 1st place in the division, and
teammate Brent Boone rolled in three wins and a table run to move up to 4th place. Captain Jim Holloway also had three wins. John Bushnell and
Ernesto Sanchez both picked up game wins in the opening frame, but Monty's 1 could mount no challenge after that. With the loss, Monty's 1 (0-2) fell four spots to 11th place.
The Moose Lodge fell one game short of a home sweep of Monty's teams as they lost 8-7 to the reigning champions, Monty's 2. Behind three-game winner Alfonso Lazaro, Monty's jumped out to
a 2-0 lead, but two wins each by Chuy Martinez and Jorge Guerrero helped the Moose win 6 of the next 7 games to take a 6-3 lead. You can never turn your back on Monty's 2, and this was no exception as
Lazaro and crew powered their way to five straight wins, sealing the victory. The narrow win by 2nd place Monty's 2 (2-0) enabled Don Q's 1 to sneak ahead of them and into 1st place. The Moose Lodge (1-1) remains in 6th place.
Captain Eric Kaiser's lone win on the night was a huge one as it came against Cliff Room 1's perennial all-star Pat Wieser and it completed the thrilling 8-7 come-from-behind victory for Old King's Road 2. When Dave Clark
recorded the second of his three wins, Cliff Room 1 held a narrow 6-4 lead. All four OKR wins to that point were by two men, Ian Cox and Bryan Lum. Lum's first win was a table run against Wieser.
Geoff Sylvester got the beer frame rolling for OKR with a win over Eddie Velez. Lum followed with his third win to even the score at 6-6. Don Perkins put OKR on the hill with a win against
Cliff Room captain Gene Manriquez, and Kaiser followed with the death blow. 9th place Cliff Room 1 remains winless at 0-2. Old King's Road 2 (1-1) moved up four spots to 8th place.
Don Q's 2 let a 3-0 lead slip away but quickly recovered to post a 10-5 victory at home against Break Time 2. Two-game winner Dave Guzzi stopped
Don Q's opening three-game win streak, and two games later Break Time had evened the score at 3-3. Captain Ismael Huerta then got the second of his three wins during a
five-game Don Q's win streak that sealed the match. Don Q's 2 (2-0) now sits in 2nd place, one game behind division leader Cliff Room 4. 5th place Break Time 2 fell to 1-1.
Monty's 3 saw a 4-1 lead disappear and were almost dealt a shocking blow by Carp Billiards were it not for the heroics of Todd Knudsen. After Monty's sprinted out to a 4-1 lead,
Carp Billiards, behind two-game winners Garet Watters and Colin Clayton, won four straight games to take a 5-4 lead. Knudsen then downed Kerry Weissman to stop the
Monty's bleeding and even the match heading into the beer frame. After Phil Beach nailed down his league-leading second break-and-run, Monty's was on the hill at 7-6, but
Weissman got even in his last game with a win over Monty's captain Debbie Beach to force the hill-hill showdown. In the final match of the night, Knudsen had a dry break, but Colin Clayton was unable to
capitalize. That was all the room Todd needed as he ran out the rack and saved the day for Monty's. With the win, Monty's 3 (1-1) moves up to 7th place.
10th place Carp Billiards fell to 0-2.
Old King's Road 1 got off to a tremendous start against powerhouse Cliff Room 2, and despite a furious Cliff Room comeback, Old King's Road was able to hold on and post an 8-7 victory.
Sam Auchincloss' three wins were the difference for Old King's Road. Sam's first two wins came against top players Jim Zambelli and Jack Poet, and his third win
put Old King's Road over the hill. Old King's Road opened the match with four straight wins, and after 9 games they were on the hill at 7-2.
Brandon Teris, Paul Lacey, and Jim Zambelli all won their second games to make the match interesting, but Auchincloss slipped past an emergency Cliff Room sub to snuff out the comeback.
6th place Cliff Room 2 (1-1) was hampered because one of their players forgot his ID and was ejected from the bar. This was the second straight major win for 3rd place Old King's Road 1 (2-0).
1st place Cliff Room 4 (2-0) showed no mercy against last-place Creekside 2 (0-2), winning 14-1 at home. Terry Howell took over sole possession of the division lead with his three wins and a break-and-run.
Teammates Maurice Elias, Murray Peden, and Peter Tagles also gathered three wins each. Just as he did last week, captain Keith Gruel scored the lone Creekside game win.
Break Time 5 bounced back from their tough loss last week to post an impressive 12-3 win over visiting Endless Summer. Mike Rys led all Break Time scorers with three wins and a table run.
Ed Martin and Dave Thomas also had three wins each for 4th place Break Time 5 (1-1). Adam Priddy, Billy Larson, and Shaun Snyder each had a game win for 7th place Endless Summer (1-1).
Sportsman 1's Leana "Mississippi Hellcat" Finley and Chris "The Ripper" Ackler ganged up on inter-division rival Sportsman 2, and the result was an 11-4 win for Sportsman 1.
Both Hellcat and Ripper had three wins to pace 4th place Sportsman 1 (2-0). Sportsman won every game in the opening frame and had the match sewn up before the beer frame.
Derrick Craig won two games to lead 11th place Sportsman 2 (0-2).
In the inter-divisional battle for Old Town Goleta supremacy, round one goes to Old Town Tavern. Behind two-game winners Tom Burke, Rob Nowland, and Michael Craig,
Old Town built a huge 7-2 lead at home against Bak Dor 2. But there's no quit in Bak Dor's "Super Mario" Reyes. His three wins sparked his team to a comeback bid that fell short by just one game.
With the 8-7 win, Old Town Tavern (1-1) moves into sole possession of 9th place. Bak Dor 2 (1-1) fell two spots to 5th place.
