| Mike Rys had three wins and a break-and-run to lead host Break Time 5 to a thrilling 8-7 win against 1st place Cliff Room 2 (20-2), meanwhile lifting Rys into 1st place in the B Division standings. Rys entered the night 5 points behind Cliff Room's Jim Zambelli, and the two tangled in their first game of the match. Zambelli never got a chance as Rys broke-and-ran the table. Zambelli bounced back in his second game to post a break-and-run of his own, but when the night was over, Mike held a 5 point lead over Jim. This will be the first time all season that Zambelli's name is not on the top of the printed stats. Back to the match...Break Time took a commanding early lead, winning 5 of the first 6 games. Cliff Room responded by winning 5 of 6 to tie the score. Dave Thomas then put Break Time on the hill with a nifty massé on the 8-ball, and Rys finished off the match with a win over Maurice Elias. With the win, 3rd place Break Time 5 (18-4) virtually assured themselves a top-3 spot in "B" Division. Break Time must win their remaining four matches and hope Monty's 2 loses one of their next three in order to move up to 2nd place. Despite the loss, Cliff Room 2 still enjoys a comfortable lead in "B" Division. The biggest obstacles in their path to the top spot are 4th place Monty's 3 and 6th place Cliff Room 1. | |
